About

About me

I came to the Bar in 2017 after eight years as a solicitor, which shapes how I work: I know what an instructing solicitor is carrying, and what is actually useful to receive back.

I qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and spent those years in civil litigation, including co-founding and running a firm across several offices. That meant conducting cases from first interview to trial, and carrying the commercial side of a practice as well as the legal one. When I transferred to the Bar I brought the habits with me. Papers come back on time, advices say what I think rather than hedging every paragraph, and if a case is not worth what everyone hopes, I will say so early enough for it to be useful.

My practice is mainly personal injury and clinical negligence, housing, and civil and commercial litigation. I am Deputy Joint Head of the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team at Park Square Barristers. I am also an accredited civil and commercial mediator, which has made me a good deal more interested in what a case settles for than in what it might theoretically be worth.
